The airy waves shawl is knit using eyelets alternated with areas of plain stockinette stitch. These areas are broken up into blocks of different colors. Overall, the resulting project is much more interesting than it would be if it were knit in nothing but plain ol’ stockinette stitch.
You could use this versatile garment as either a wrap or a scarf. Either way, it’s a fabulous layering piece.
Pictured here, you can see the shawl styled so that it wraps around the neck, sort of like a cowl or an infinity scarf — a look that’s trendy at the moment.
If you know how to crochet, you can also make the market bag that’s pictured along with this shawl. Either piece is nice on its own, but together they are outstanding!
To create the colorful effect you see pictured, you’ll need 4 different yarn colors. The suggested yarn for this pattern is Lion Brand’s Recycled cotton.
