Puff stitches are an interesting break from the usual basic crochet stitches. They also add significant texture to any crocheted piece you use them on. In this particular pattern, you can use puffs to create a puff stitch crochet lace placemat edging, as pictured. You could also use the edging to finish off other table linens, or different sorts of projects such as baby blankets and afghans.
Pictured above, you can see one possible way to use this edging for finishing off a simple, beginner-friendly placemat that’s worked in half double crochet stitch. I included a plate and place setting in the picture to give you an idea of the scale at which my project sample worked up. I think this edging is the perfect size for trimming table linens, and the design would be pretty to use for holiday place settings.
I think the edging would also be absolutely gorgeous on baby projects.
