This is an extra-long scarf knit in stripes of stockinette stitch. You did notice the word “Jumbo” in the title above, right? Well, the folks at Lion Brand weren’t kidding around when they named it that — it’s a seriously long scarf. It’s hard to tell from my picture, but if you look closely, you can see that the scarf is so long that it almost touches the floor. Anyone shorter than the long-legged fashion model pictured might be in danger of tripping over it. Of course, if you are going to make this scarf for yourself, it’s easy to adjust the length so that it’s just the right size for you (or the intended wearer, if you want to make it to give as a gift.)
The model in our picture is female, but this is actually a guy-friendly scarf as well. The design is totally unisex. Of course, you might want to change the yarn colors a bit if you would like to use this pattern for knitting a man’s scarf.
We have the scarf pictured along with the Essential Jacket, which is also available as a free pattern from Lion Brand. So if you know how to crochet, or you’re willing to learn, you could make both of these pieces — to wear together, or separately, whichever you prefer.
Lion Brand’s Cotton Ease is the suggested yarn for this pattern.
The knitting pattern is available for free on the Lion Brand website, but you have to be a registered member of their website to access it.
