Hi! My name is Amy, and I’m your hostess here at knittingandcrochet.net.
I’m a professional textile designer, author and educator.
I’ve designed knits, prints, wovens and embroideries for both the fashion and the home furnishing industries. Back in 2009, I began designing and publishing patterns for hand-crafters, and nowadays that’s where I focus a large portion of my textile design and writing efforts. I also write about other topics of interest, including crafts, fashion, home decor, green living, organics, food and international travel.
I also enjoy sailing, traveling and caring for an ever-changing number of kittens and cats.
Meet my husband, Mike, your host. Actually, some of you have already unofficially “met” him. At least, maybe some of you know his name, since it often appears in copyright notices on the photos that accompany my patterns.
In a nutshell, this is Mike:
- Computer programmer.
- Sales & marketing genius.
- Amateur photographer.
- Hat and scarf model.
- Passionate athlete.
- Health nut.
- Cook book author.
- Cruising sailor. Captain of our sailboat.
Other Current role in our operation: CEOCS. That translates to “Chief Executive of Crochet Snark.” You wanna snark on some crochet? Well, get together with Mike, and have at it — he’s one of the best in the business. This “talent” of his is especially useful when we’re reviewing books.
Discovering Knitting and Crochet Around the World:
Our adventures have taken us to many different places around the world. Wherever we go, we enjoy meeting the local needleworkers and seeing what they have created. Here are pictures of a few of our discoveries.
Imagine our surprise and delight upon discovering this yarn bombing on display outside a yarn store in Tel Aviv, Israel.
We spied this gorgeous filet crochet curtain on the Island of Santa Maria.
I fell in love with this simple filet crochet curtain edging, which we discovered on the Greek island of Crete. Not pictured: There’s also a matching insertion, which is equally beautiful.
